The proposed Temple Bar Whiskey Emporium will be located on Temple Lane South, next door to the famous public House named for the area it sits in. Unique to Dublin City, the whiskey emporium will be a bespoke high-end retail premises which will offer a unique five-star visitor experience, where patrons can learn all about whiskey and enjoy a selection of drinks. The facility will cater for both individuals and small groups.

The Whiskey Emporium will significantly increase the animation to this part of Temple Lane South, a street which currently contains low order retail and non-retail uses.

The unique character of the proposed enterprise will provide amination of this side-street and it is envisioned that it will function as a catalyst for other retail operators to locate in the vicinity.

In order to provide a high-quality retail unit and provide a point of difference for the city we worked closely with our client to develop proposals for an immersive, experiential offering to include a  tasting room,  display cabinetry and grand piano as a showcase for our clients extensive knowledge & vast collection of world whiskeys which has been gathered together over a number of decades.  The private collection is one of the largest of its kind in the world, which can now be appreciated & enjoyed by the local population, tourists, and visiting groups looking for a unique offering.

As well as selling unique and rare pre-bottled whiskeys, the facility will also contain caskets of whiskey that will age on the premises. Once aged and ready for sale, each bottle will be labelled with a unique label design.

As a showcase for this unique premises, we carefully designed a traditionally detailed cohesive bespoke shopfront across the two disparate bays of the existing building. This shopfront unit, comprising a decorated timber shopfront over a granite plinth was designed having regard to Dublin City Council’s shopfront design guide & to reflect both the historical character of Dublin and the nature of the proposed use. The shopfront signage board lettering comprises raised individual pin mounted copper lettering to attractively contrast the green/grey timber shopfront & a projecting sign shall set out the logo for the premises that will be contained on the branding for the store.

Cantrell & Crowley were delighted to provide architectural services to realise our clients vision for this premises & for the wider Temple Bar area & look forward to the project being fully realised towards the end of 2022.
